42 Ton Construction Drill Slams into NYPD Van

A stop-work order has been issued for the Virgin Hotel project on 30th street near 6th avenue.

On Monday, September 28th crews were drilling into the construction site of the hotel when a 42-ton construction drill tipped over and crashed into a parked NYPD van.

Luckily no injuries were reported. Neither the NYPD nor the site owner, LG Broadway, has released any details regarding what caused the massive machinery mishap.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the highest number of work-related deaths due to contact with objects and equipment occurred when workers were struck by falling objects or equipment.
