Two Dockworkers Injured in Shipping Terminal Fire

At approximately 11am on September, 17th first responders were notified of an active fire at the APM Port Elizabeth terminal along Newark Bay.

According to officials a straddle truck and the shipping container it was carrying caught fire. The shipping container was transporting wood and wood pulp, all of which was completely engulfed by the time officers arrived at the scene.

Two dockworkers were hurt in the fire, including the driver of the truck. Another worker was treated for smoke inhalation.

First responders were able to contain the fire in just shy of an hour.
