Walmart set to raise the wages for 500,000 US workers.

Retail giant Walmart, who is the largest private employer in the United States, has announced that it plans to raise its hourly rate for more than 500,000 employees.
Plans to raise salaries for almost 40% of its staff, as well as increase its base hourly pay to $9 (approx $1.25 above the mandatory minimum way) are underway, with structures in place to have all current workers paid at least $10 per hour by February 1st 2016.
Pressure from labor groups has been steadily increasing recently, which is thought to have brought about this reaction from the firm.

Do you think this will encourage congress to raise the mandatory rate of minimum wage?
