9/11 Illness Kills Three Fireman in One Day

Three retired fireman who responded to Ground Zero on 9/11/11 have died on the same day from 9/11-related diseases.

The three men were among the hundreds of firefighters who rushed to Ground Zero in the aftermath of the horrific attack. One victim had leukemia, one had esophageal cancer, and the third had colon cancer.

The New York City Fire Department lost 343 firefighters that day and almost 3,000 people died in the attacks.

First responders showed health problems soon after the attacks, with 99% of exposed firefighters reporting at least one new respiratory illness.
