Syracuse Worker Rescued From 10-Foot-Deep Pit

On Tuesday, October 27th Onondaga deputies and rescue crews were dispatched to a sludge tank in the Syracuse area.

According to officials the Water Environment Protection Metro Sewage Treatment Facility, a sewage treatment plant, had hired a contractor to clean a sludge tank.

One of the contractor’s employees, a 55-year-old man, fell into a 10’ by 10’ settling area within the tank. Luckily the worker had taken proper safety precautions and was in protective gear.  The man was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries to his torso.
